Who we are

Wewiora and Booth are a curatorial agency which look to support creative talent and nurture relationships & collaborations between artists and society.  The agency was established back in 2013 as wewioraprojects by founding members & sisters Helen and Elizabeth Wewiora.

Now in our 5th year, our projects are currently programmed and produced by Elizabeth Wewiora and new partner Charlie Booth.

We are producers of the well respected North West programme Northern Art Carbooty as well as the 2016 national touring programme Tall Tales.  For a list of current or recent work and regular blog posts about our projects as they develop please see the menu bar to the right…

About the team:

Elizabeth has a background in fine art and still continues as a practicing artist, also weaving between curating and engagement roles. She is currently the Head of Engagement at Open Eye Gallery (Liverpool), whilst Charlie, with a background in art history, currently works as part-time programme coordinator at Redeye, the Photography Network and Community Engagement Manager at Manchester Histories.

Original member and co-founder Helen Wewiora has a background in art history, critical writing and curating and is now the Director at Castlefield Gallery in Manchester.

wewioraprojects was set up to explore and deliver art projects that put audiences and their engagement at the heart of programming, take art outside of the art environment into nomad spaces, and work with the best of creative contemporary talent, across the North of England and nationally.

Believing in strength in numbers, wewioraprojects and now Wewiora and Booth, actively seeks for new partners and collaborators for developing projects. With these new collaborations we hope to widen the depth and breadth of experiences of artist and public audiences alike.
